Stories of Healing | Update from the Kents

Beth - Hi, Crowd church. We're Beth & Chris, the pastors of a church plant in Johnson City, Tennessee. And over the last couple of months, we have just been seeing some amazing healings that we wanted to take some time and share with you about.

Lady healed from Neck Injury

Chris - Recently, we had a lady come to us. She'd had quite a severe car accident. And she'd had whiplash, which had resulted in severe pain in her neck and shoulders. And she had been for the past year or so going to physiotherapy, she'd been to see different specialists. And ultimately, the doctors had said that they were going to have to inject her yearly to numb the nerve endings so that she would be pain-free, but obviously, that would have its own consequences and outcomes. And so she was at her wit's end. And just one morning, someone had a word about God healing someone's neck. So they felt a strong impression that God was healing someone's neck. And so we just prayed, we just said, well, Lord, we just release that. And this lady just did this, and there wasn't any change during the service. But when she went home, a couple of hours later, she actually had a nap. And when she woke up, she realised that she was turning without pain. And it's just been life-changing for her, being able to have mobility back and being able to have full mobility without pain, being able to raise her arms, which she wasn't able to do before, she wasn't able to raise them above shoulder height. So that was amazing.

Beth - And the other part of that story was she was due to start a job the following day. And literally before coming to church, she was saying to God, I don't know how I'm going to do this job with my neck like this. So that's just another little add-on to that story.

Man's sight & hearing restored

Beth - Another story is there's a guy in our church and a number of years ago, he had an issue with his eye. And it was so severe that he had to have an operation. And after the operation, he had to lie flat for days on his face, he wasn't allowed to move. So it was really horrendous. Anyway, he started to develop pain in the other eye. And so he booked to see a doctor, but in the in-between time, he came along to church. And there was a word someone felt God give them, the word of knowledge that someone had an issue with their eye. And so he just received prayer in church. And his eye was totally healed. He went along to the doctor the next day that week, and they were like, there's nothing wrong with your eye, you're totally fine. So he's full of faith.

The next week, he comes along to church again. And there's a word of knowledge this week about someone with hearing issues. And so he stood up for prayer, knowing that he had issues with his hearing. And God healed him. But he wasn't aware of his healing at this point. And so he got in the car with his wife and his wife started talking to him in her normal way. And he turned around and said, Why are you shouting at me? And then he went and put the TV on, and it was like, why is it so loud and put it down. And at that point, they realised that he had been healed. So two weeks running, he had these two pretty amazing miracles.

Beth - And then the following week, he was leaving church going out for a picnic with his wife, and they were driving along and they saw a yard sale. And at the yard sale, the guy was selling laser power tools and stuff that just made him want to stop and go and see it. So he got out of his car. And he started chatting to the guy. And that morning at church, someone had a word of knowledge about somebody having issues with the soles of their feet. And so as this guy is talking to the owner of the house, who's hosting the yard sale, he starts talking about the soles of his feet and how they're really hurting and how he can't walk. He's using a cane. And so our friend just said, that's really interesting because our pastor had a word of knowledge about this. Can I pray for you? And so he prayed for the guy hosting the yard sale, and he was instantly healed, running across his lawn, totally amazed and blessed that God wanted to heal him.

Chris - The other part of Richard's story was to do with his hearing. He responded that morning, because the previous night, I and the pastor of his present church had been on a little ministry trip, which was like an hour away. And at this church where we were guests, we prayed for someone with hearing loss in both ears. I think it was like 85% hearing loss. And he got instantly healed and took out his hearing aids. And we know people that live in that city, and he's still, without his hearing aid, hearing perfectly fine. And so it was after that, then we came home and said, you know, this is what we saw. And we were just telling people about it. It's like releasing testimony and that sort of thing. You know, for us, that means that God is able to do it again. We release testimony, we tell people what God has done. And it tells us, it educates us that God can do it again. And so that's what happened that morning.

Man healed of Kidney Stones

Chris - And we had a worship night on a Wednesday, and we had someone come in, and at that time, there was someone else being prayed for. I can't remember what it was to do with but they were being prayed for. And as they came in, they said oh, I kind of need some prayer as well, because I've got gallstones or kidney stones. And he was in a lot of pain. And so we said, well, sure, let's just pray for you. So a whole bunch of us just gathered around and prayed for him. And that was kind of like the end of the story. Well, as far as we knew, but actually what happened was after being prayed for, he went straight to the gents, and was able to pass all of those kidney stones pain-free. So that was quite miraculous and he was just overwhelmed with God's goodness and love.

And I think that's the thing about healing. We can often think that it's amazing to see and it's miraculous. But actually what's more important is number one, that it transforms people's lives. It actually has a direct effect on their lives that God has answered their prayer and their body is now able to function as it should, or whatever it is, is pain-free. But also, for me, the most important thing is that it reveals constantly who God is, His nature. And the Bible says that He's love, that He's a healer, that He loves His creation. And so, for me, those miracles just back that up. It shows us who God is and what he's able to do.
